THE ESSENTIALS asked what you would do with the foundation you were given. This one is about what God does in a man He intends to send far. Thirteen lessons follow the four works He does after the foundation is laid: seeing sin as God sees it, learning the fellowship of His sufferings, pulling down the strongholds in your own mind, and carrying the authority He won and handed back. They come in that order because the work comes in that order. A man who has not seen sin as God sees it will not survive suffering. A man who has not suffered will not let go of his strongholds. And a man with a stronghold still standing cannot be trusted with authority, because he will use it on people. Every lesson works the same way. READ a whole passage, not a fragment. SEE what the text actually says. SEARCH the Scriptures that bear on it. WEIGH the question against your own life. Then OBEY, one thing to do before the next lesson, written down and answered for. This is a workbook, not a survey. It is written to be filled in, worked through with another believer, and answered for. It does not suggest: where the Scriptures command, this book commands.
